Newlin Hall

+ Google Map

This monumental concert reunites the world’s greatest jazz orchestra with a legendary vocalist in recognition of their combined Grammy® win for “Diane Schuur and The Count Basie Orchestra.” In the history of Jazz music, Count Basie has the distinction of having his orchestra still performing sold out concerts all over the world, even nearly 30 years after his passing. Pianist and bandleader William James “Count” Basie remains an American institution. The Count Basie Orchestra has to this day won every respected Jazz poll at least once, garnered 18 Grammy® Awards, and performed at every major jazz festival and major concert hall in the world.

Long regarded as one of Contemporary Jazz’s leading vocalists, Diane Schuur is as eclectic as she is brilliant. Blind from birth, Schuur was gifted with perfect pitch. With a distinguished 30-year recording career, two Grammy® awards and three nominations, Schuur’smusical collaborations have included the likes of Barry Manilow, B.B. King, Ray Charles, and José Feliciano.
