Award winning vocalist MON DAVID will be performing Upstair’s at Vitello’s at 8:00 PM (one long show) with special guests Nicole & Carlo and his vocal improv group, Fish to Birds on Thursday, November 14th! Recognized internationally as the finest male jazz singer of the Philippines, Mon David, is the winner of the 2006 London International Jazz Competition for Vocalists.

A product of the University of the Philippines College of Music, Mon has seven albums to his credit, all of which received unprecedented critical acclaim and a plethora of awards, including the 2006 & 2007 Awit (“Filipino Grammy’) for Best Jazz Recording and Best Vocal Arrangement. He has performed internationally at the North Sea Jazz Festival, Jakarta Jazz Festival, and Philippine International Jazzfest. In the United States, he’s been a popular headliner at Catalina Bar & Grill’s annual Filipino-American Jazz Festival, in Hollywood, where he’ was asked to return for four consecutive years. He has graced the stage of many fine jazz clubs including The Jazz Bakery, Yoshi’s, Vibrato Grill Jazz, Vitello’s and Spazio. He has appeared at the Asian American Jazz Festival in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Filipino American Jazz Festival, the First Annual New York Filipino American Jazz Festival.

Mon David’s cd, “Coming True” was named one of the Top 10 cd’s for 2009 by Christopher Loudon of Jazz Times. In his review of “Coming True” in this
month’s JazzTimes, he writes,”Every once in a rare while a singer arrives clear out of the blue and knocks you out. Such a revelation is Mon David.”

Known for his wide vocal range, rich tone, fearless style, and eclectic musicality, Mon David has shared the stage with luminaries such as Dianne Schuur, David Benoit, Eric Marienthal, and the late Bobby Enriquez. With his critically acclaimed debut American recording, Coming True (FreeHam Records) Mon David is eager to explore America’s fertile music scene, sharing with an ever-growing audience his artistry and his philosophy: Music that comes from the heart and soul can transcend borders, create cultural bridges, and, ultimately, heal, unite and inspire. His most recent cd, Solomon, is a solo outing featuring Mon David on guitar performing some of his all-time favorites and some originals.
